History

dJournalist was founded in 1995 as GearHead Media, Inc., a ground-breaking new media company that developed the award-winning site GearHead.com.

GearHead, billed as "Earth's Bicycling Publication" helped to change the face of journalism by providing Internet-only real-time coverage of cycling events and expert columns on all things cycling. GearHead (before its sale in 1998) boasted several hundred feature articles, scores of product reviews, and an impressive roster of reader-generated guides.

GearHead.com won more than a dozen web awards, including Netscape Gold Site, WebCrawler Select Award, and the Microsoft Cool Site award. The publication was featured on CNN, CNNfx, and Fox. The site was reviewed in USA Today, Yahoo! Internet Life, Mountain Bike Magazine, Bike Magazine, and dozens of regional and state newspapers.

GearHead Media, Inc. worked with more than a dozen of the highest caliber writers in cycling and adventure sports. After the sale of GearHead.com, the company reformed as dJournalist and began to specialize in providing journalistic, photographic, and photojournalistic services to electronic and traditional media in the adventure sports and technology sectors.

David Schloss has more than twenty years of experience in the computing technology field, having worked in the IT departments of such companies as Sony Electronics, Inc.; ADP; Lockheed-Martin; and Turner Broadcasting, Inc. where he was the Senior Systems Administrator for CNN New York.

Since the sale of GearHead.com in 1998, Schloss has worked as a freelance and assignment writer and photographer, and has focused his energy on providing editorial and photographic services in markets he loves. Technology and adventure sports are in his blood and his work reflects that sense of enjoyment and dedication to his pursuits.

Schloss attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City and was a student in the Graphic Design Department where he combined his photographic skills and computer experience into an overarching discipline.
